Medicaid Eligibility Issues

I counsel clients in the specifics of Medicaid eligibility issues. We carefully review a client's financial situation and determine appropriate planning methods based upon those resources and the client's needs. I explain the rules applicable to planning for spouses living in the community and the impact upon the eligibility for benefits of the nursing home spouse. I determine other planning opportunities which may be of assistance. These planning opportunities may include the setting up of specific types of trusts and the transfer of assets permissible under the current Medicaid rules.

Medicaid Application Process

I assist clients with understanding the documentation necessary for the proper application for public aid benefits. Additionally, my office provides assistance with the preparation of Medicaid applications.

Long-Term Care Financing

I assist clients in gaining an understanding of the issues surrounding long-term care financing. These include discussions covering long-term care insurance and review of long-term care placement contracts.

Special Needs Trusts

Certain clients may benefit from the preparation of certain types of types to benefit individuals with disabilities. These include Special Needs Trusts, Third Party Special Needs Trusts, Payback Trusts and OBRA Pooled Trusts. I attempt to carefully match a client with the appropriate type of trust planning.
